The fun part? There’s no right way to do this.

You start with a blank piece of 3mm MDF that is intricately laser cut. I know it may not seem like much...but with some colour it will actually look like a jelly fish.

You can:

• Keep it minimal with soft, simple tones or don't paint it at all (boring)
• Go bold with bright, clashing colours
• Follow a pattern… or completely ignore one

Each shape naturally guides you, but nothing is fixed. Every line, dot, and detail becomes your own.

And somehow, no two ever turn out the same.

✏️ Make it messy

This isn’t about staying inside the lines.

It’s about layering colours, testing ideas, and letting it feel a little chaotic. The best versions usually come from not overthinking it.

Markers, paint, pencils...literally whatever you have, it works.

The more personality you add, the better it gets.

🧵Bring it to life

Once your jellyfish is coloured in, it’s time to bring it to life.

Thread your yarn through the holes and let the tentacles hang freely. Mix colours, keep it tonal, or go completely wild. This is when it really starts to feel like something.

Soft movement, texture, and colour all come together.

Remember to add a little 'hook' for your jellyfish to hang from.
