The Wood Lab is a branch of Matthew Bell Enterprises, a creative-focused group of businesses based in Cape Town, South Africa. Founded in 2025, our mission is to build the largest and most diverse library of beautifully designed wooden cutouts ever seen.
Our design team brings together graduates from the respected Red & Yellow Business School and the Triple A School of Advertising, giving us the creative expertise and technical skills to design anything we can imagine.
We saw a clear gap in the market for a dedicated online store selling high-quality wooden cutouts — and our goal is simple: to be the biggest and the best in the industry.

Can I order a custom design?
Yes! We love helping you bring your ideas to life and our team of design pro's at The Wood Lab have all the skills necessary to achieve this.
Simply email hello@thewoodlab.co.za and tell us:
Shape, size, quantity, and any other relevant info.
If necessary attach a file of the image/shape you are looking for.
Get a quote → pay → we cut.
A small design fee will apply. Custom designs are priced using our standard online pricing. We’ll confirm lead time with your quote.
What kind of wood do you use to cut your blanks?
We use a 3mm thick MDF wood for all of our standard cutouts. However, upon special request we can use other types of wood such as bamboo, or birch ply. If you'd like to find out more about these options simply send us an email or give us a call with your query and we'll help you out!
How long does shipping take?
We pride ourselves on our lightning fast turnaround times and if you are based in South Africa your order should take 2 to 4 business days to arrive at your door.
If you are in Cape Town delivery can be as quick as 1 to 2 business days.
We also have a local pick up option at 37 Durham Avenue, Salt River, CT if you'd like to collect your order yourself.
